DIBS graduates 12 students from Higher Defense and Security Program

Georgia: The Defense Institutional Building School (DIBS) has celebrated the graduation of 12 students from its Higher Defense and Security Program, a prestigious inter-agency course that aims to develop military and civilian leaders in the field of security.

The graduation ceremony was held in the Armyhall of the Ministry of Defense, where the head of the Defense Agency, Deputy Minister of Defense Grigol Giorgadze, and the head of the Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, congratulated the graduates and handed them their diplomas and gifts.

The Higher Defense and Security Program is a one-year academic course that covers topics such as security policy, strategic planning, security environment assessment, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving. 

The course is designed for middle and high-rank managers from various ministries, such as Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Health.

The program also includes familiar visits to different authorities within the country, as well as in the region and Eastern European countries, to learn from their experiences and best practices. 

The program is based on the NATO-accredited Defense Institutional Development School (DIBS), which is part of the Defense and Security Training Analytical Center.

The program was created after two years of intensive work and consultations, taking into account the experience of NATO member countries at the strategic level. The program aims to enhance the professional development and cooperation of the security sector in Georgia and beyond.

The graduates of the second edition of the program expressed their gratitude to the instructors and organizers of the course and said that they gained valuable knowledge and skills that will help them in their future careers.

The DIBS fosters the professional and institutional development of the Georgian Ministry of Defence (MOD), promotes a common understanding of security and defense policy across the government and civil society, and tries to enhance cooperation between Georgia’s security sector, regional countries, and NATO allies and partners.
