Georgia:Â The Minister of Environment and Agriculture Otar Shamugia, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Georgia Anna Chernishova, and the trustee of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti David Nozadze visited the newly opened energy-efficient ovens factory.
The company “Esco-S” has invested 2 million GEL for the establishment of energy-efficient ovens, the amount of concessionary agro credit is 1.5 million GEL and received 500,000 GEL under the co-financing program of recycling and storage enterprises. The company, as a manufacturer, is involved in the co-financing program for energy-efficient ovens.
“It is important for us to promote the implementation of energy-efficient technologies in the country to reduce pressure on the environment.” The new enterprise was launched with government support and part of the company’s funding will be fully mobilized by the state. There must be also an educational component, especially with the support of the Ministry of Education, where interested professionals are trained. It should be noted that we have a project supported by GIZ to help residents, and interested parties to buy energy-efficient ovens and around 200 families have already benefited. We think more support to further interest in this angle. ” – said Otar Shamugia.
“Biomass made from nuts and walnut shells is used to heat energy-efficient stoves, which helps to reduce emissions in the environment and rational use of forest resources.” “With the support of UNDP, residents have already been given 40 energy-efficient ovens, which is very important,” said Anna Chernishova, the Deputy Permanent Representative of UNDP in Georgia.
According to Zaal Kheladze, the founder of the company “Esco-S” and the Green Engineering Center, 25 people are employed in the new enterprise opened with the support of the state. The company plans to manufacture 33 thousand ovens within a 5-year project and completely blue Georgia.
With the promotion of UNDP and GEF small grant programs, within the framework of the program “Promotion of renewable and energy-efficient technologies to provide social economic benefits and improve the existence of the population”, the company “Esco-S” is implementing the social project “Warmth for Everyone”, which involves the installation of energy-efficient ovens for socially vulnerable families in Dusheti Municipality On the way to buy a show.
It should be noted that the Rural Development Agency has given a grant of more than 600,000 GEL to support energy-efficient production, the amount of “deductible agrocredit” given for the same purpose is more than 1.7 million GEL.
The opening event of the new enterprise was attended by the Director of the Agency for Rural Development, members of local authorities, the Austrian Embassy, the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN), NGOs, the media, and the business sector.
