Georgia: New “Social Innovations for Future” program for students

A “social innovation for the future” program by the the Social Innovation Platform Georgia have been launched for Poti public school students to encourage students' interest in social innovation, design thinking, etc.

A “social innovation for the future” program by the the Social Innovation Platform Georgia have been launched for Poti public school students. Students in the 8th to 11th class are eligible to participate in this program which aims to encourage students’ interest in social innovation, design thinking, etc.

The program also aims to encourage the students to be actively involved in finding ways to solve local social problems. The Social Innovation Platform is an effort of the Center for Consultation and Training (CTC). It was established with the objective of promoting the development of innovative ideas aimed at social change.

Some are the terms and conditions that have been created for the participants as well are mentioned below:
1. 4-6 pupils and one teacher should be united in the team;
2. Students should be in classes VIII-XI;
3. One teacher can only be one team member;
4. Only two teams from one school can participate.

The program opens house and will be held remotely from 12 to 19 April at 19:00 via Zoom. The program is being implemented with the support of the Consultation and Training Center (CTC) in cooperation with Poti City Hall. BP and IPEM Terminal Poti (JSC Poti Seaport Corporation) are providing financial help.

Additionally the program is supported by CTC’s Social Innovations Platform (SIP www.socialinnovations.ge ) which is financially supported by the Swiss organization HEKS/EPER South Caucasus.

According to the information provided by the ministry representative of the program every school participating in the educational program will receive a projector and screen as a gift.

Moreover the three winning teams’ schools will receive additional digital screens. The implementation of the idea that won first place in the competition will be financed by 20,000 GEL.

The Poti city hall also shared information on their social media pages. The social media users appreciated the program and said that this will allow the students to learn about Georgia’s society and culture.i
