Georgian Minister Kakha Kakabade on a visit to Czech Republic

Kakha Kakhabade, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, together with representatives of the National Forest Agency is on a working visit to the Czech Republic.

Kakha Kakhabade, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, together with representatives of the National Forest Agency is on a working visit to the Czech Republic. During the visit, the Georgian delegation learned about various innovative methods that can be implemented to protect the country’s environment.

 

At the same time the delegation members also learned about the forest policy of the Czech Republic, forest and protected landscape management practices, forest development plans, the functioning of “busy yards”, and the firewood production system.

They also visited the yards of wooded where the cut wood was sotred, moreover the visting delegation inspected the latest machinery here.
While expressing his views Georgian Minister Kakha Kakabadze stated, “Forest sector reform in Georgia is in an active phase. The National Forest Agency of Georgia according to sustainable forest principles is moving to a new model of forest management.”

“To promote the effective implementation of the new Forest Code and to facilitate access to the population and private sector to mineral resources, and forestry development, 54 “busy yards” have been set up whereas 16 more are to be added this year. For the success of these reforms it is undoubtedly important to know the experience of our partner countries” Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze noted.

They visited the international exhibition of forest equipment in Silva Regina, as well as Moravian Karst protected areas. It is noteworthy that the Czech and Georgian agencies have been working closely for a long time to protect the environment of their respective countries.

The Georgian minister also added that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection is working on the Georgian flora and fauna. According to him they learned a lot of new things during this visit and will try to implement them in their home country.

The Czech official expressed their desire to extend every possible assistance to Georgia.
