Army personnel rehearsing for Independence Day

The members of all the wings of the armed forces of Georgia are rehearsing for this country's main event,( Independence Day) which is scheduled to be held at Freedom Square on May 26, Sunday.

Tbilisi: Independence Day is celebrated as one of the biggest events in Georgia, and the armed forces participate with full spirit. The members of all the wings of the armed forces are rehearsing for this country’s main event, which is scheduled to be held at Freedom Square on May 26, sunday.

 

The armed forces with their esteemed participation add a special touch to the Independence Day celebration. Their role in safeguarding Georgia’s sovereignty is crucial and this event is a testament to their dedication. The rehearsal for this grand celebration took place at the Freedom Square, with the Georgian Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani and Commander of Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, overseeing the preparations.

 

The rehearsal was a collective effort with members from various branches of the armed forces participating. The East and West Defense Forces, Aviation and Air Defense Forces, Logistic Provision of Troops, Special Operations, Training and Military Education, National Guard and Military Police Department, and the National Defense Academy named after David Aghmashenebeli all played a part in this comprehensive preparation.

 

The participating troops under the guidance of General Giorgi Kvinitadze learned the event’s plan. This was a full dress rehearsal conducted by the armed forces members.  It is worth noting that the newly inducted recruits who will take the military oath on May 26 also rehearsed. Recruits will take the oath on Independence Day on Freedom Square. At the same time, the Bethany Monastery, Didgori Monument, Katskhi Monastery, Gergeti Trinity Monastery, and Samtro Saint Nino Monastery   join the Georgian Army to participate in Independence Day events as well.

 

Notably  within the framework of the festive events  an exhibition of military equipment, weapons, and other materials will also be organized in the capital and 18 different cities across the country.  The attending citizens of Tbilisi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Mtskheta, Rustavi, Stefantsminda, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Senaki, Ozurgeti, Poti, Khoni, Mestia, Ambrolauri, Samtredia, Batumi, Telavi, Akhalkalaki and Marneuli will have the opportunity to inspect military armor, engineering equipment, artillery, weapons and equipment in the defense forces. Every year, 26 May is celebrated as Georgia’s Independence Day. On this day in 1918, the act of independence was adopted by the parliament.
