Ilia State University will celebrate Food Safety Day on June 7. There will   be a student competition  on the topic “Why healthy food important: What food do I eat?”. Any one can participate as the participation   will be free of cost.

As per the  information shared by the University administration  a series of events will be held to celebrate Food Safety Day on June 7, at 12:00. The venue of the events will be the G106 auditorium of Ilia State University.

The main purpose is to draw public attention to the importance of food safety for both short-term and long-term health benefits.

There will also be a student competition, “Why healthy food is  important: What food do I eat?” The events have been planned to  to raise awareness of the relationship between food safety and health and encourage student research.

It is worth mentioning that the interested students wishing to participate in the competition should prepare a scientific essay based on the latest scientific works and  if selected by the organizing committee  they have to give a presentation on World Food Safety Day.

Notably, the slogan of Food Safety Day is “Food safety is everyone’s business.” Similarly  the theme of 2024 is “Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected.” This food day is   a reminder that food safety is a collective responsibility of everyone, from producers to consumers. Everyone must play their role to ensure food safety.

The threat to food safety  can  be big and difficult task to handle in future. The  risk posed by harmful food can quickly escalate from a local problem to an international emergency. It is worth to mention that the events will be held in the local Georgian language.

At the international  level  many agri experts have raised their concerns that the threat of climate change and growing temperatures will make the problem worse if timely action is not taken to protect the food supply chain at the international level.
