Kutaisi, Georgia: A noteworthy landmark has been reached with the opening of a new office of the Department of Environmental Supervision in Kutaisi, a testament to the importance of our work in protecting the environment.
The Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, took a personal interest in the new building of the Department of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in Kutaisi, visiting and getting acquainted with the work process.
The building is not just a structure but a hub of environmental protection, equipped with all necessary inventory and equipment of the highest standards. The new office will be home to 129 dedicated employees of the Western Regional Authority’s Environmental Inspection and Rapid Response, ensuring a robust environmental control system in the Western region.
According to the Minister, strengthening the capacity of the Department of Environmental Protection is part of the state policy of environmental protection.
“The Department of Environmental Supervision is one of the most important circles in the ministry system, whose main task is to protect our unique nature, prevent and control environmental damage.” Therefore, we have prioritized enhancing this service to the maximum, providing employees with all the necessary equipment, equipment, and vehicles to discharge their essential responsibilities properly. Of course, infrastructure is critical, and we are actively working on it. An example is the new, modern standards office opened in Kutaisi. We continue to work towards this. We should have such offices in all regions, and we will finish them very soon,” Otar Shamugia said.
In the new building, together with the minister, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze, Head of the Environmental Supervision Department Levan Jgharkava, State Trustee in Imereti Zviad Shalamberidze and Mayor of Kutaisi Ioseb Khakhaleishvili were present.
