Georgia: The deputy director of the Maritime Transport Agency (MTA) of Georgia, Christina Rzgoeva, announced that the Maritime Transport Agency is preparing to launch the Port Community System (PCS)) pilot mode.

Under the influential leadership of The Georgian Maritime Transport Agency, a key player in the maritime industry, we are gearing up to launch the Port Community System (PCS) pilot mode. This is a significant step towards digital transformation in our sector.

The fourth cycle of work meetings has been completed within the framework of the Harbor Unification System, a comprehensive project aimed at streamlining and digitizing work processes in the port, customs, and railway sectors. Representatives of the parties involved in the project implementation, as represented by the consulting group Actual IT, discussed the digital analogs of the ongoing work processes.

“The meetings were fruitful. “After intensive work with stakeholders, we agreed on the final versions of digital processes and discussed potential risks and challenges,” said Christina Rzgoeva, Deputy Director of the Maritime Transport Agency;- “Shortly, the consulting group will represent a pilot version of the wreck digitization system, where all parties will have the opportunity to work in a statistical mode and Practically test the capabilities of the system.”

Georgia started implementing the “System of Unification of Ships” (PCS) in October 2023.

The PCS project is an electronic platform designed to connect stakeholders in harbor freight operations, both marine and land (freight and rail), with the Central Digital Platform and the ‘National Maritime Single Window System’ (NMSW). This collaborative connection will significantly enhance the management of harbor and logistics processes, improving efficiency and transparency.

The PCS project won the European Development and Reconstruction Bank (EBRD) Digital Governance Award for 2024.
