Georgia: The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, shared an update on his official Facebook page about his meeting with Giorgi Khubua, the newly appointed Rector of Kutaisi International University (KIU).

He said, “It was a significant moment when I, along with the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Giorgi Amilakhvari, had the privilege to meet the newly appointed Rector of Kutaisi International University (KIU), Giorgi Khubua.”

During the meeting, the conversation was about plans to develop new educational programs at Kutaisi International University.

As the government representative, he extended his best wishes for success to the new Rector of the university and reaffirmed their unwavering support.

Doctor of Law, Professor Georgi Khubua, the newly appointed Rector, brings with him a wealth of academic experience. His impressive career includes serving as the Rector of Tbilisi State University named after Ivane Javakhishvili, Director of the State and Law Institute of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, and Scientist-Fellow. He is the author of more than 40 scientific works, including 7 monographs and one textbook.

The idea behind founding the charity mega-project – Kutaisi International University- belongs to Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family. International-Charitable Foundation invests more than one billion euros in the form of philanthropy in the development of “Kartu” University.

KIU, which welcomed its first batch of students in the fall of 2020, is now home to over 1,200 students. Our collaboration with the prestigious Technical University of Munich (TUM) and its former President, Professor Wolfgang Hermann, is a testament to KIU’s global aspirations.
