The United States State Department strongly criticized the fake news being spread by the ruling party of Georgia, “Georgia Dream.” The statement in this regard came from Yuri Kim, U.S. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs.
She stated that Georgia’s ruling party created a fake narrative which included the opening of a “second front” in Georgia and the fake allegations about the former U.S. ambassador’s involvement in coup plots, which she said are totally bogus.
The USA State Department also added that the fake narrative will affect the bilateral relations negatively. Moreover, it is wrong to see that U.S. Ambassador Kelly Degnan is being accused of a coup in Georgia.
According to the State Department “When the ruling party made these fake allegations, they have not given weightage to the cordial relation between both the countries.
The USA can never think about such a negative approach for its finely nation like Georgia.” According to prominent narrative of the “Global War Party ” it is like a conspiracy as the GD claims are promoting the global war and are influencing American and European politics with negative influences.”
Yuri Kim further claimed that GD officials are deceptive when they support the false narrative of their own party officials. If corrective steps are not taken immediately this will damage the long-lasting relationship permanently.
She also added you cannot take both stands at the same time. This is when the Federation of Russia still occupies twelve percent of Gergia’s territory, and the Ruling Party is blaming the friendly nation instead of taking action.
It is worth noting that the relationship between Georgia and the USA suffered a setback when the Georgian government adopted the much-controversial foreign agent law. The USA even proposed to review its bilateral relations with Georgia from scratch if the law is adopted by the Georgian Dream-led government of Georgia.
However, the Georgia GD party adopted the law. The law was adopted despite the large-scale protests across the country including the capital Tbilisi.
