Tbilisi: The office of the Prosecution Georgia has charged three people for extortion. They were booked for extorting a large amount of money from victims living abroad.
It is worth noting that the Prosecution office has cracked a whip against the criminal elements throughout the country. Now  members of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia have filed charges against three more persons for helping a group of people  to extort a large amount of money. They are also accused of destroying other people’s property on a large scale.
Law enforcers order the investigation after receiving a complaint about their illegal activities. The investigation carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia revealed many shocking facts. The investigation by the ministry established that all the accused persons had helped a group to extort a large amount of money.
They got this illegal money from the people of Marneuli municipality who are  currently living abroad. They all with conspiracy of each other demanded from victim to pay a large amount of money while giving threat to harm their life and destroy belongings.
At the conclusion of the investigation they were charged with strict provisions of the Georgian criminal code.The sub-paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of Article 25-181 of the Criminal Code of Georgia have been imposed against them. The provision defined the offense of assisting in extortion,threatening to use violence against the victim and to destroy his belongings,committed by a group in order to receive a large amount of money and belongings.
Similarly they have been charged with section 187 along with “a” and “c” of part 2 of Article E Â for destroying someone else’s property by forming a group. Notably based on the prosecutor’s office’s motion one accused has been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure and the prosecutor’s office has already applied to the court for the imposition of imprisonment as a preventive measure against two other accused as well.
It should be noted that on August 16 based on the petition of the prosecutor’s office in the same criminal case, the court sent two persons to prison as a preventive measure to protect the safety of witnesses and evidence.
