Koba Khubunaia attends welcome event of Paris Olympic prize winners

Sachkhere, Georgia: Koba Khubunaia, the acting director of the Georgian National Cinema Center, attended the ceremonial welcome event of the Paris Olympic prize winners in Sachkhere.

Lasha Talakhadze, the three-time Olympic champion in weightlifting, the self-governing of Sachkheri municipality, along with the Paris Olympics prize winners, gave a grand festive welcome.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Koba Khubunaia, members of the Georgian Parliament, State Trustee Levan Zalkaliani, representatives of local self-government, and famous sportsmen.

An award ceremony was held. The self-government of Sachkheri Municipality was awarded. Three-time Olympic champion Lasha Talakhadze, who was granted 20,000 GEL;

They were awarded with special prizes:

• Lasha Guruli – Paris Olympics bronze medalist in Kriv;
• Givi Macharashvili – Paris Olympics vice-champion in freestyle wrestling;
• Tato Grigalashvili – Paris Olympics Vice-Champion in Judo;
• Ilia Sulamanidze – Paris Olympics Vice-Champion in Judo;
• Lasha Bekauri – two-time Olympic champion in judo;
• Geno Petriashvili – Paris Olympics champion in freestyle wrestling;
• Koba Talakhadze – Lasha Talakhadze’s father and Olympian’s first coach.

Other Special Prizes: 

• Georgian-honored coach Tamaz Lashkhi was awarded for his contribution to the formation and development of weightlifting in Sachkheri municipality;
• Avtandil Gakhokidze, the coach of the Georgian national weightlifting team, with prominent sports and training activities in the international arena;
• With a prominent sports and training activity for the protection of Sachkher and Georgian prestige – the leading coach of the Georgian weightlifting team, Athens Olympic champion Giorgi Asanidze;
• With the highest sporting success and weightlifting development to protect Georgia’s prestige – President of the National Weightlifting Federation of Georgia, three-time Olympic champion Kakhi Kakhiashvili;
• For notable sporting achievements and significant contributions to the development of Olympic sports – President of the Olympic Committee, Barcelona Olympic Champion Leri Khabelov.

Notably, the Chokhosanta Society awarded Lasha Talakhadze the title of a knight. The event ended with Anri Jokhadze’s concert.
