People to choose between war or peace in October election: Georgian PM

Irkali Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia urged people to vote for peace. He said that the October election would be a “decisive referendum” and people would have to choose war or peace.

PM Kobakhidze and the Head of Georgian Dream commented on the crucial role of the people in the October election for Parliament on September 14. The PM and party head were speaking at the election rally in Gori, in central Georgia’s Shida Kartli region.

At that time both expressed hope that the people of Georgia were wise enough to understand the difference between the policies of the Georgian Dream and the opposition parties very well. Moreover people will definitely select peace over war in the coming election.

The PM said the people of Shida Kartli know the value of peace. They are the people who faced the heat of the 2008 war. The previous regime’s mistake caused many people to suffer. They further said that the Region of Shida Kartli is the pride of the country. Its rich heritage in the form of churches and monasteries, tells us how land, language, and faith are important for Georgia’s integration.

While slamming the opposition parties the PM added that till 2012 the country was in unsafe hands. Moreover the previous regime became Puppet in the hands of foreign powers and committed crimes against the Georgian people. Kobakhidze lauds party founder and honorary chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili, who defeated the bloody opposition regime and significantly improved the country’s status.

As per PM, the people of the country are thankful to the founder of the party who with his consistent efforts established democratic rule in Georgia. The PM also highlighted the achievement of his party, Georgian Dream and said that since the GD came into power a series of reforms have been implemented to uplift the standard of living of Georgians.

He also defended the recent adoption of the foreign agent law.PM stressesed that the law will bring transparency to NGOs and other civil society organizations that receive massive funding from foreign countries.
