Georgia’s maritime sector has finally achieved a new succes. The “Maritime Signle Window System” has been successfully implemented in the country with the cooperation of different agencies of foreign countries.
The Maritime Transport Agency Director, Alexi Akhvlediani thanked the Maritime Single Window System Service employees. At the same time the representatives of the Hamburg Port Consulting Group (HPC) and the Spanish IT company PRODEVELOP also received the Director’s appreciation.
The director lauded every stakeholder for the successful completion of the project which will result in significant changes in the marine sector. The director of the maritime transport agency also explained how the project was successfully concluded. He specifically stated “We started the process of implementing Maritime Single Window in May 2023. This one long year was very challenging, but we succeeded with our consistency.”
As per him “A digital transformation project of this scale in such a short period of time is the first big development of the agency. In the beginning it seemed impossible to achieve the set goal. However, it is already the second day that the ports of Georgia have been providing digital services to ships. Sixteen ships are registered in the “Maritime One Window System” to enter the harbours of Batumi and Poti.”
The director called it a new reality for the country’s maritime sphere and thanked everyone for their significant contribution to the successful implementation of this truly revolutionary project.
At the working group meeting he interacted with representatives of different companies and expressed hope that the single-window system would expedite the process.
It should be added that the system’s main purpose was to reduce loaded ship clearance time. The support of many regional and international agencies also enabled the project to be executed on time.
On the other hand experts familiar with maritime sector have welcomed the establishment of this single-window system. They also thanked the agency director for showing special interest in the early completion of the project.
