Tbilisi: The emergency management department of Georgia opened a new office to improve service delivery. Ministry offices have been opened in regions which includes Oni, Racha-lechkhumi, and Svaneti.
The deputy ministers of internal affairs Ioseb Chelidze and Aleksandre Darakhvelidze attended the opening ceremony of new offices in the Oni, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions. They were both accompanied by the head of the Emergency Situations Management Service Temur Mghebrishvili.
At the same time the Racha-Lechkhum Kvemo Svaneti State Trustee Parmen Margvelidze attended the event. Representatives of the local government and heads of the emergency management service were also present.
It is worth noting that the new building was built according to modern standards and is equipped with the latest equipment for immediate response to any emergency in any region of the country.
The new office building includes work and restrooms, a special training hall, a study room and a gym for employees’ physical and mental fitness. The operational management centre has also been established in the building.
This is where the messages received by the emergency management service in the Racha region will be monitored and distributed to the relevant fire-rescue groups.
A special parking lot for fire-rescue equipment was arranged in the courtyard of the emergency management service building. Solar energy panels were installed on the building’s roof. The new building is adapted for people with special needs which means it will have proper ramps and elevators for people with special needs.
At the time of the visit the members of the visiting delegation also inspected the fire and other equipment. The new vehicle has been inducted into the department’s fleet. Â At the same time they also interacted with the department’s employees. They assured the department officials that this would make the department’s response system more efficient in these areas.
