Georgia: The Georgian parliament member Shalva Papuashvili gave a speech at the National Day of the Republic of Turkey reception on 30 October 2024.

Papuashvili mentioned, “It is a great honor to participate in the celebration of the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. This day represents a crucial moment in the history of the Turkish people and is also the recognition of the solid values of national independence, unity, and democracy.”

Long-lasting relationships, cultural exchange, and a history of common interests bind our countries. Since their independence, Georgia and Turkey have stood by each other, respecting each other’s sovereignty and identity. Turkey’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as Georgia’s devotion to deepening trust and cooperation with Turkey and its people, are invaluable.

The strategic partnership between their countries is a testament to the enduring power of mutual respect and commitment to the welfare of their people. Over the past decades, their partnership has blossomed, creating bridges that unite their people in every conceivable direction. Today, their collaboration spans a multitude of areas: trade, energy, culture, education, and many more.

We greatly appreciate the strong ties between the Georgian Parliament and the Turkish Great National Assembly. Our legislative representatives have fruitful working relationships, friendly connections, and valuable communication at all levels. Based on existing cooperation, we are ready to contribute to the further development of our relationships.

Our countries also share a desire for peace and stability, both on our borders and in the region. We want to see a safe, well-connected, and developed Black Sea region.

They were interested in implementing joint strategic projects. In today’s complex and volatile geopolitical realities, promoting these invaluable regional projects is critical to further strategic stability, economic development, and energy security.

Shalva Papuashvili said, “I am confident that this partnership will continue to develop for the betterment of our nation.”

He also declared, “On behalf of the Parliament of Georgia, I warmly congratulate the Turkish people on this historic holiday. May the Republic of Turkey continue to develop, and our friendship and cooperation grow stronger each year.” “Thank you. Happy Republic Day to the Turkish people, ” the minister added.
