The Minister of Education, Science anf Youth Affairs of Georgia Aleksandre Tsuladze gave a speech in the parliament. He informed the Georgian Parliament on ongoing projects to be carried out at the higher education level.
He said, “The higher education system is shifting to a new model of development – the leading component of the higher education program is a new concept of state universities development, which includes conceptual transformation, infrastructural renewal and improvement of the learning-scientific environment.”
“Leading international and local experts must be involved in developing this concept. Our vision is to develop university consortiums, network, and build a new University City that includes both new campuses and student dormitories,” he stated.
Aleksandre Tsuladze said, “I would like to mention here, that in 2025 a new common dormitory for students will be opened on the base of Tbilisi Medical University.”
“Part of this concept will also be a new – results-based model for higher education funding, through which we will ensure that the funding is in line with state priorities and at the same time, we will provide higher education with adequate financial guarantees for effective and stable development,” said the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia in the parliament.
Candidate Aleksandre Tsuladze during his speech in Parliament provided information about current projects and initiatives to be implemented at the level of higher education to the Georgian Parliament. As the ministerial candidate noted, the changes in the Georgian higher education system in recent years and the significant increase in confidence in international partners have led to the rapid development of the higher education sector and ensured a significant increase in the revenue from the education sector in the state budget.
During his conversation, Alexander Tsuladze paid special attention to the importance of Kutaisi International University. He said, “I would like to emphasize once again that for the first time in Georgia, with the charity of Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family, in active cooperation with the Technical University of Munich, a multi-disciplinary international level state university was founded in Kutaisi – Kutaisi International University, which is gradually becoming a study, research, and technology” Abby hub in the region.”
He also mentioned, “The number of KIU students, according to our calculation, will exceed 20,000 in the coming years. The mentioned project significantly contributed to the improvement of the educational-scientific environment in Georgia. ”
During his speech in the Georgian Parliament, Alexander Tsuladze touched on important issues such as – the development of the concept of online university and relevant standards, the involvement of universities in different alliances and networks, the support of students, the expansion of three-year undergraduate and one-year master programs, the doors based on the achievements of academic and scientific staff Implementation of national advancement and more.
