Patrol Police Department gets new 100 Skoda-made vehicles

The car park of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has been replenished with 100 new cars of "Skoda". The new cars are meant for the Line Authority of Tbilisi Patrol Police.

Georgia: The car park of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has been replenished with 100 new cars of “Skoda”. The new cars are meant for the Line Authority of Tbilisi Patrol Police.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) shared the photographs of the replenished car park along with a short note on its official Facebook page on February 12, 2025, Wednesday.

According to the Ministry’s statement, it is noted that the director of the Patrol Police Department, Vazha Siradze, inspected the new vehicles of modern standards and familiarized himself with their technical characteristics, together with deputy Sergi Bzishvili, Head of the Tbilisi Patrol Police Department Lasha Jokhadze, and other officials.

The purpose of upgrading the carpark is to improve the working conditions for patrol inspectors, to ensure public order and traffic safety, and to increase the efficiency of their activities, as well as to promote crime prevention.

The main Goals for the improvement of the car park are:

  • To improve the efficiency of patrol activities
  • To create better working conditions for police officers
  • To reduce administrative costs, such as fuel and service costs
  • To reduce emissions and improve environmental friendliness

To improve police efficiency and create better and more comfortable working conditions for police officers, the Ministry of Interior will regularly upgrade the carparks of various units including the police department with modern police transport. The process of updating the police infrastructure will continue actively in the future.

The Ministry stated that the new vehicles will make it easier for police officers to move in difficult terrain areas, especially mountainous regions, make their operations more efficient, and contribute to the protection of public order.

It is noteworthy that Georgia’s patrol agency has been rebuilt multiple times, each time including some new technologically advanced vehicles. It should be noted that:

  • In August 2023, 130 new Renault and Skoda cars were added to the fleet 
  • In May 2022, hybrid-powered vehicles were handed over to Rustavi Patrol Police 
  • In May 2022, 32 new hybrid vehicles were handed over to Adjara police structural units.
