Georgia: The UNICEF or the United Nations Children’s Fund, an agency that works to protect children’s rights and futures, continues to work with academia to integrate the rights of the child into the curriculum, which will contribute to deepening research and training of professional staff.

UNICEF Georgia posted snippets of the event held on March 5, 2025, Wednesday along with some important information on its social media handle which is its Official Facebook page.

According to the details shared by UNICEF Georgia, it should be noted that, upon UNICEF’s invitation, Professor Ton Liphard, who leads the Department of Children’s Law and Health Law at Leiden University, delivered a public lecture at Tbilisi State University aimed at bolstering children’s rights education in higher education institutions.

Notably, a working meeting was also held with representatives of academic staff, which discussed the process of creating a Master’s Program for Children’s Rights in Georgia on Wednesday.

The representative of the UN Children’s Foundation in Georgia, Jesper Moeller attended the meetings.

It is also worth noting that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) aims to provide humanitarian and development assistance to children and young people so they can survive, thrive, and reach their full potential.

UNICEF was founded in 1946 in New York by the United Nations Relief Rehabilitation Administration to provide immediate relief to affected children and mothers during World War II. Itis one of the most widely known and visible social welfare  organizations which operates in 192 countries and territories.

UNICEF’s activities include providing immunizations and disease prevention, administering treatment for children and mothers with HIV, enhancing childhood, and improving sanitation while also promoting education.

The organization is also responsible for providing emergency relief to affected member countries in response to disasters. It relies solely on funding from government and private donors.
