St Kitts and Nevis MRI installation in final stages at JNF Hospital

St Kitts and Nevis: The MRI Unit at the Joseph N. France General Hospital in St Kitts and Nevis is at its final stages of installation. 

The federation’s first ever MRI unit, was planned to be introduced at the JNF General Hospital in June last year. The plan initiated with the construction of a dedicated building for the MRI unit which is expected to complete by August 2025 with the installations of the MRI machine.  


PM Drew, during his recent National address shared by him on his social media on 7th July, emphasized on the developments taking place at the JNF hospital, specifically the MRI unit

He emphasized that the installation of the MRI Machine will drastically reduce the cost for the people of St Kitts and Nevis which in turn will lead to better healthcare facilities for the people of the federation.  

“This is a major commitment to you, our people, and we are delivering,” the Prime Minister said.  

Experts from Taiwan support psychiatric care improvements

On 14th July, a dedicated team of experts from Taiwan including Dr. Jia-Shyun Jeng and Dr. Chih-Ming Cheng from the Taipei Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan arrived in St Kitts and Nevis under the Mental Health Service System Enhancement Project of the Taiwan ICDF in St Kitts & Nevis. 

The 5-day visit aims to deepen their understanding of the Mental Health Program and the Psychiatric Ward at the JNF General Hospital. Officials from the Ministry of Health welcomed the two doctors, and gave them a tour across the facility.  

The authorities at the JNF hospital also deployed eleven individuals to enhance the Emergency services response at the hospital. These individuals underwent a rigorous eight-week emergency medical technician (EMT) based training.  

Out of these, three will serve as orderlies, six will serve as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) while the two others will serve as Paramedics. The government says that these advancements mark a significant stride in enhancing the facilities and patient care across St Kitts and Nevis.
