Imereti Region, Georgia: The State Representative or Governor of the Imereti Region of Georgia, Zviad Shalamberidze, visited the site of construction and got acquainted with the current situation, and received detailed information about the ongoing events.
In connection with his visit, the rapid response headquarters in the villages of Ghverki and Khemagali of Kharagauli municipality is actively working in intensive mode to manage the erosion processes developing in the Karneba River valley.
Along with the State Representative, the Deputy Minister of Regional Development Levan Zautashvili, the State Trustee of Imereti side Levan Zalkaliani, and the Mayor of Kharagaul Koba Lursmanashvili were also present there.
The Head of Imereti Region of Georgia, Zviad Shalamberidze, shared the glimpses of his visit to the site on his Official Facebook Page on August 24, 2025, Sunday. A small note about the works was also posted along with their glimpses.
According to the information shared by the Governor, it should be noted that the Study and management of the situation created in the river valley is carried out in a coordinated manner.
Geologists of the National Environment Agency, Emergency Management Service, Representatives of the Ministries of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Administration of the Trustee of Imereti, Department of Roads, and Representatives of the Georgian Railways are involved in the process.
The flow of water stored in the river bed is controlled, as well as the dynamics of the drainage processes. Authorities are working to widen the riverbed and eliminate floodwaters. The riverbed will be cleared of the floodwaters to ensure the safe flow of water.
It is also worth noting that the situation in the river valley is completely under control, and the population is not threatened.
