Georgia: The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has indicted 44 persons, including foreign nationals, for cases of illegal purchase, storage, realization, promotion of realization, and illegal import of narcotics, including large and especially large quantities.
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs found that the arrested persons illegally purchased and stored various types and quantities, including large and especially large quantities of drugs, which they were selling. Also, some of the accused brought large amounts of drugs to Georgia.
As a result of the events, drugs were seized: cocaine, “MDMA”; 2 S-B; “alpha-PPP”, “Methadone”, “heroin”, “morphine”, “codeine”, “amphetamine”, “buprenorphine”, “methamphetamine”, and “dried marijuana”.
The detainees are charged under Article 260, Part One (Illegal Purchase and Storage of Narcotic Drugs), Subsection “A” of Part Two (Illegal Purchase and Storage of Narcotic Drugs in Large Amounts), Subsections “D” and “B” (Purchase and Storage of Narcotic Drugs, by Prior Agreement by a Group, Committed Repeatedly) and Subsection “A” of Part Three (Repeated Illegal Purchase and Storage of Narcotic Drugs in Especially Large Amounts), Subsection “A” of Part Two, and Subsection “A” of Part Four of the Criminal Code of Georgia; (Illegal importation of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs into Georgia).
Notably, Article 260 tertsia, subparagraphs “a”, “b” and “e” of the fourth and fifth parts (illegal sale of narcotic drugs, by a group with prior agreement and by a person convicted of committing a narcotics crime), Article 260 tertsia, part one (illegal sale of the narcotic drug “marijuana”), Article 260 quarta, part five, “e” and subparagraph “a” of the sixth part (facilitation of the illegal sale of narcotic drugs in a particularly large quantity by a person convicted of committing a narcotics crime) were introduced, which provides for up to 20 y
Prosecutor’s Office has already appealed to the court for mediation of imprisonment as a measure of arrest for the accused. Part of the accused have already been jailed, and the measure of extortion against some of them will be considered on the date set by the court law.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia carries out a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue in the future.
