Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged the defendant with aggravated attempted murder of his ex-wife after the victim’s death.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this crime through its official Facebook Page on Monday, October 6, 2025. The Service also shared the glimpses of the arrest made by them.
The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case. The investigation revealed that the Prosecutor’s Office has charged the person who was arrested for serious injury to health, after the victim’s death.
Cause of charges
As a result of the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that on September 25, in Kaspi, the accused first wounded his ex-wife, then poured petrol and set her on fire. The victim died in the hospital on October 2 as a result of his injuries.
Action taken by the Georgian Prosecutor’s office
The accused has been charged with the sub-positions “T”, “K”, and “M” of Article 11 Prima-109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional murder in aggravated circumstances, due to the unrest of equality between women and men, with special cruelty to a family member), which considers life imprisonment as a punishment.
It should also be noted that the Prosecutor’s Office also applied to the District Court within the time limit established by law with a motion. It will be done to impose imprisonment on the defendant as a preventive measure.
It is to be specifically mentioned that law enforcement agencies of Georgia are working in collaboration to tackle the country’s increasing crime rate.Â
Law enforcement officials are also organizing seminars and workshops to inform the public about the strict legal provisions. At the same time, legal provisions are being made more stringent so that accused persons can be prevented from committing offenses due to fear of the law.
