Georgia: The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against two citizens of a foreign country for collectively promoting illegal purchase, storage, and realization of large quantities of narcotics.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page on October 8, 2025, Wednesday. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia established that the defendants illegally purchased and stored in large quantities, 0.098 g. Drug “Tetrahydrocannabinol” and 205.71 g. “Dried marijuana”, which was for realization in Batumi, was appreciated in their residence.
The Law enforcers seized the mentioned drugs and other items needed for their evaluation after raiding the accused’s residence.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
It is worth noting that the detainees will be charged under “a” and “b” of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase and storage of large quantities of narcotics by the group under prior agreement), 260 quarta of Article 260 (promoting the illegal realization of large quantities of marijuana by the group under previous agreement) and 260 quarta article 5 Section B (promoting the unlawful realization of narcotics by a prior agreement group) was introduced.
Based on the prosecutor’s motion, one defendant has already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure, while the court will consider the issue of imposing imprisonment on the other within the time limit established by law.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country drug-free. The Georgian prosecutor’s office is pursuing a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue to do in the future.
