The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia, Mikheil Sarjveladze, spoke at the Turkish Medical World Congress and talked about the successful reforms implemented by Georgia.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia shared the snippets of the event on its official Facebook Page on November 26, 2025, Wednesday.
According to the Minister, in recent years, significant changes have been made to the Georgian health care system to improve quality, equality, and productivity.
According to the Minister of Health, Georgia has strengthened disease monitoring and implemented reforms that provide financial protection for the population. In this regard, the Minister emphasized the model of financing with diagnosis groups (DRG) and the establishment of reference prices for medicines. Mikheil Sarjveladze noted that the changes aim to improve the population’s access to medical services and more efficient use of resources.
Mikheil Sarjveladze spoke about current and planned developments; he noted that the country continues to improve primary health care services and expand telemedicine, which provides geographical access to quality medical services.
During his visit, the Minister of Health held a bilateral meeting with Turkish colleague Kemal Memisoglu, where the parties discussed the existing cooperation and its development opportunities. Mikheil Sarjveladze met Hans Kluge, Regional Director of the World Health Organization Europe, as well as heads of health care institutions in different countries.
During his visit, the minister also visited Ankara State Hospital, met with the clinic’s management, and became acquainted with the specifics of Turkish State Medical Institutions.
The Turkish Medical World Congress has been held since 2014. The 11th session is dedicated to productive healthcare and is administered under the patronage of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Congress unites representatives of the health care and medical spheres from different countries around the world in one space.
Archil Kalandia, the Ambassador of Emergency and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkey, participated in the event and official meetings with the Minister of Health of Georgia.
