Georgia: The national STEAM competition “Georgia of the Future” has concluded. At the closing event, school teams presented the 30 best projects selected and the winners from across the country to the attending community.

During the event, the winners were awarded by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Baia Kvitsiani, with relevant certificates.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of STEAM direction in his speech and congratulated the winners on their success. According to him, this competition is a shining example of innovation, inclusiveness, and quality.

The selection tour of the national competition “Georgia of the Future” across the country began in June 2024 and ended in November. About 150 school pupils from all three levels of general education participated in it.

The works of the schools participating in the competition were evaluated according to the four main components: project plan, model, essay, and summary video clip. For the preparation of the project, each school received 500 GEL funding from the I2Q project. Finally, 30 schools moved to the final of the competition.

In addition to showcasing student creativity, the event also created a platform for young innovators to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and gain real exposure to modern technological thinking. The atmosphere was vibrant, with students confidently presenting solutions that reflected both imagination and practical problem-solving.

It is to be remembered that the goal of the national competition – “Georgia of the Future,” is to strengthen students’ interest in STEAM science subjects.

The STEAM extracurricular program piloted with the support of the World Bank has been phased in at 200 schools, where STEAM labs have been created, teachers have been trained, and the necessary educational resources have been provided to schools.
