The Executive Director of Sakstat Gogita Todradze took part in the 21st session of the United Nations Statistical Institute of Asia and the Pacific Countries (UNSIAP) and the Management Seminar for Heads of Statistical Services of Asia and Pacific Countries, which was held between December 1-4, in Japan. These meetings were organized by the United Nations Statistical Service (UNSD), the United Nations Institute of Asia and the Pacific Countries (UNSIAP), and the United Nations Statistics Service of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), which was attended by the heads of the mentioned institutions.
During the meetings, a forum on World Statistics Day was opened by the Japanese Government Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, and the Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission of Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The UNSIAP Governing Council session discussed the 2025 activity report, the draft 2026 work plan, and other current issues. The meeting focused on organizing training on climate change, the national accounting system, social statistics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
The head of Sakstat took part in panel discussions and introduced the participants to the experience of Georgia and the plans of Sakstat as a presentation.
The main theme of the Management Workshop for Heads of National Statistical Services for Asia-Pacific Countries was strengthening leadership and management skills in organizing relationships with statistical data users. Also, the event discussed issues of meeting the data requirements of governmental institutions, the business sector, NGOs, and other consumers, effective management of statistical products and infrastructure, and practical experience of different countries.
At the seminar, which was also focused on improving data collection and dissemination, the issues of deepening and strengthening cooperation between the National Statistical Services and official statistical data users were discussed.
