The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, got acquainted with the construction works of the hydroelectric power plant “Store Hessi” and the electricity transmission line “Store Hess – New Telavi” in Kakheti.
Mariam Kvrivishvili stressed that achieving the country’s energy self-sufficiency and increasing energy security are the government’s top economic policy priorities, which are very important for Georgia’s further development.
According to the Minister, it is important to achieve this goal to implement projects such as “Store Hessia” – the construction of the cascade type “Store Hessi” will be completed in 2026, its capacity is 47,6 mgv, and the annual revenue is 208 million. kvt. ს. Will be.
The hydroelectric power plant will be integrated into the Georgian electricity transmission network with a 110 kV power line “Store Hessi – New Telavit”, which will be put into operation alongside the hydro power plant.

Mariam Kvrivishvili made a special emphasis on the process of modernization of electricity transmission infrastructure, which is implemented by the decision of the government by the “Georgian State Electricity System”.
According to the Minister, the implementation of the “Store Hesi – New Telavi” project in the Kakheti region will significantly increase the stability of the electricity transmission network and improve the electricity sustainability of East Georgia.
It is noteworthy that, while visiting Kakheti, Vano Zardiashvili, the CEO of “Georgian State Electricity System” and Barish Elbasioglu, the representative of the company Mitas Energy and Metal Construction Inc, signed a renewed contract on the construction of a 110 sq.m. electric transmission line “Story Hessi – New Telavi”.
The initial cost of this project was 12,500,000 euros; according to a new document, the contract cost was reduced by 3 million US dollars. The project will be implemented under the “Electric Power Grid Improvement Program” (ENIP), funded by the KfW Development Bank. As for “Store Hess”, its investment value is 90 million. It’s a U.S. dollar.
“This agreement reached by the Georgian State Electricity System with the Power Transmission Line Construction Company is already a good example of optimization of the budget of current projects, when the same work will be done cheaper and, at the same time, in full compliance with international standards,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
