Georgia: The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Lasha Avaliani, met with representatives of the field on matters of development of the dairy sector on January 15, 2026, Thursday.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister introduced important updates planned for the sector in 2026, including the tightening of primary production and animal relocation control mechanisms, as well as the implementation of the mechanism for phasing out veterinary prescriptions.
At the meeting, the issue of the marginal norm of aflatoxin in raw milk was also discussed, as well as the mechanisms of encouraging raw milk production.
“On the initiative of the private sector, a meeting was held with representatives of the field, both manufacturers and recyclers, for the first time. We discussed some current issues and challenges that exist today in the market and the sector as a whole. “We talked about plans, which will be implemented this year, which will contribute to both the development of the local sector and better end-user information,” said Lasha Avaliani.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of regular dialogue between the government and the private sector. Participants said such discussions help improve food safety, product quality, and support the steady development of Georgia’s dairy sector.
The representatives of the dairy sector positively evaluate meetings of this format and note that regular communication with the government and agreed decisions are necessary to overcome the challenges in the field.
