Kakheti, Georgia: Heavy snowfall created electricity problems in Kakheti, leaving thousands of residents without power and causing disruptions to daily life across the region. The population is talking about systematic outages.
According to residents, the electricity supply has been unstable for several hours, affecting households, businesses, and essential services, with many areas experiencing repeated interruptions.
The information was provided by the Kakheti’s head on its official Facebook Page on January 19, 2026, Monday. A few photos were posted on the Facebook page in addition to the information.
For several hours in the region, electricity is not provided to most of the subscribers. Problems were created both in Telavi and in Akhmeti and Gurjaani municipalities.
Citizens write on social networks that the power outage is not new for them, and they face the problem systematically.
They say power often goes off even during low rainfall and wind, and they are calling on the power company to strengthen maintenance, add work crews, and improve power quality.
The company “Energy-Pro in Georgia” states that none of the feeders are off. Several transformers were accidentally turned off due to heavy snow. The outage was caused mainly by damage to the electrical transmission lines.
According to the company, employees are working in an emergency mode, and the electricity supply in Telavi has gradually been restored.
As for the municipalities of Akhmeti and Gurjaani, the electricity supply has been restored by about 80% so far.
“The problem was created even on the high voltage line and due to the accident of the SSE, electricity was not provided. However, the mentioned damage has already been eliminated at this time”. – being explained in the company.
