Adjara, Georgia: The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, together with the Minister of Agriculture, Denis Salukvadze, met with the members of the Citrus Coordination Staff and the heads of citrus receiving and processing plants.

At the meeting, the activities of Citrus Coordination Headquarters were summarized. The Chairman of the Government noted that as a result of coordinated work, the citrus season went without any significant delays. The Adjara citrus season ended successfully.

As a result of coordinated work, the process was executed efficiently and without any significant delays, which, of course, had a positive impact on the final results. More than 27,000 tons of standard tangerines have been exported, the value of which amounted to 43 million GEL.

“More than 14,000 tons of non-standard tangerines were processed, for which up to 5 million GEL in subsidy was given. We will continue to support farmers in the future, so that agriculture in the region can develop even more,” said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.

During the meeting, the results achieved during the season were discussed, and ways to eliminate existing challenges were discussed. Special attention was given to farmers’ support mechanisms, the citrus realization process, and production quality improvement.

Citrus Coordination Headquarters was functioning for two months in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia.

It is worth noting that during the citrus season of 2025-2026, according to the Prime Minister’s decisions, more than 2.5 million GEL was allocated in subsidies from the Georgian Government Reserve Fund to promote the realization of substandard tangerines. During the season, more than 20 companies received export tangerines, and processing of non-standard fruits was provided by two canning factories operating in Kobuleti.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Adjara Government Unit, members of the Supreme Council, and mayors of Kobuleti and Khelvachauri.
