The Gombori Education Center hosted the simulation training “Gombori Volunteer 2026,” organized by the State Service of Veterans Affairs and the organization Youth and Veterans for National Defense and Security, with the support of the SP “Self-Defense Volunteer.”
In the training that is as close to reality as possible, volunteer groups of the organization “Youth and Veterans for National Defense and Security”, including territorial troops, representatives of Sagarejo municipality hall and population, students from different higher schools, participated. The mobile outpatient of the Sanikidze War Veterans Clinical Hospital, which was supported by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency _TIKA, was handed over to the hospital last year.
Students of Tbilisi State University, named after Ivane Javakhishvili, were also involved in the study. Their specific tasks were: “Media work during emergencies and coordination with military rescue forces. ’’
The teaching included both theoretical and practical parts. Military journalist Koba Liklikadze, the coordinator of the International Cooperation, Protocol and Public Relations Authority of the State Service of Veterans Affairs, presented to students a presentation on the topic: “Journalists’ involvement in times of war and conflict”; the process was conducted in question-and-answer mode and was very interesting for future military journalists. And the representative of the Volunteer Organization, Malkhaz Karazanishvili, introduced the participants of the training to the legislative base in the field of crisis management in our country; the algorithm of coordinated actions of agencies at strategic, operational, and tactical levels was discussed, in the process of responding to emergencies caused by human and natural factors.
The practical part of the training was led by the Deputy Director of the Volunteer Organization “Youth and Veterans for National Defense and Security”, Brigade General Giorgi Surmava, together with the Executive Director of the Generals Club of Georgia, Malkhaz Chikhladze.
Director of the State Service of Veterans Affairs, Major-General Koba Kobaladze, and Director of the A(A)IP “Youth and Veterans for National Defense and Security”, Eduard Jishkariani, got acquainted with the training. They were personally involved in the process of conducting the training safely. Koba Kobaladze answered the questions of future military journalists; talked about the need for coordinated work of media and rescue forces in emergencies and conflict situations, the challenges of journalists’ safety, information transmitting correctly, and ways to overcome them.
It is noteworthy that in the process of simulation training, together with the equipment and equipment of the Gombori Center, rescue equipment, which with the support and involvement of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency – TIKA, was brought by high-ranking Turkish instructors and gave as a gift to the Gombor Volunteer Training Center: “Search and Rescue on the Open Perimeter “Within the framework of the curriculum”. Georgian instructors trained by Turkish specialists also participated in the training.
At the end of the training, the students of the journalism course covering military issues, together with the instructors, summarized their work, made a detailed analysis, talked about the flaws, and expressed their desire to participate in similar events in the future.
