Akhaltsikhe Municipality, Georgia: The Deputies of the Parliament of Georgia and Minister of Sports Shalva Gogoladze inspected the sports infrastructure in Akhaltsikhe. The visit aimed to review ongoing projects and assess the development of modern sports facilities in the city.
The Akhaltsikhe Municipality City Hall shared the glimpses of the inspection works on its official Facebook Page on February 21, 2026, Saturday. The Municipality City Hall also shared a small note about their works along with its glimpses.
The Mayor of Akhaltsikhe Municipality, Varlam Tsiklauri, Member of Parliament of Georgia Anton Obolashvili, and State Trustee of Samtskhe-Javakheti Zaal Gelashvili, visiting Akhaltsikh, the Minister of Sport and the members of the Sport Committee of Georgia Parliament, visited the current and completed infrastructure projects.
Representatives of the Central and Legislative Authorities visited the sports infrastructure at Rustaveli Street No. 124 in Akhaltsikhe, where there are karate, mixed martial arts, and kickboxing halls. They also visited the newly opened sports complex on Aspindza Street and the construction work of a basketball hall in the surrounding area.
The newly opened sports complex in Akhaltsikhe includes large and small swimming pools; the main pool is designed for both swimming and water polo courts, and the small pool can be used by adults and children. The building also houses a gym, weightlifting, boxing, and wrestling halls.
This year, one more sports facility will be added to the city of Akhaltsikhe. Construction of a basketball hall with modern standards is actively underway, and sports infrastructure for 300 spectators is being built within the project. Works are being co-financed by the regional project fund and the local budgets.
It is noteworthy that the promotion of sport and a healthy lifestyle is a major priority for central and local governments. For today, the sports infrastructure in Akhaltsikhe provides an opportunity for students interested in sports to exercise and demonstrate their abilities in a well-equipped environment.
