Under the leadership of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Geka Geladze, the inter-agency board of maritime security was held at the Joint Management Center of Maritime Operations.
The meeting discussed the performance report of the Joint Management Center of Maritime Operations, developments on the Black Sea, security issues, and risks.
Members of the Council discussed, recently, the challenges in Georgia due to the world’s events. Also, they determined the priorities of the Joint Management Center of Maritime Operations and discussed plans. In addition, the regulations of the Council meeting and other issues on the agenda were approved.
The meeting was attended by deputies of the Minister of Institutions and Heads of relevant divisions, including: First Deputy Head of State Security Service Lasha Maghradze, Deputy Minister of Defense Grigol Giorgadze, Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Olomon Pavliashvili, and the head of the Ministry of Border Police.
The Joint Maritime Operations Management Center (JMOC) is a unique concept of ensuring maritime and border security with the most significant strategic and operational purpose. The Inter-Agency Council provides coordination of the activities of the mentioned center.
The Council is chaired by the Minister of Home Affairs; it comprises the Border Police, Public Security Service, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and Ministry of Finance.
After the meeting of the Inter-Agency Council of Maritime Security, the Minister of the Interior, Geka Geladze, and the members of the Council inspected the infrastructure and the floating facilities at the Coast Guard Base. Geka Geladze thanked border police employees for their service to the country.
