KIU launches Nikoladze Research Center

In Kutaisi International University (KIU), in order to develop scientific research and support multidisciplinary activities in STEM fields, the Giorgi Nikoladze Scientific-Research Center was established. The event was opened by Vakhtang Tsagareli, the acting rector of KIU, the city director of Kutaisi University, with a welcome speech.

The Kutaisi International University (KIU) shared the glimpses of the event on its official Facebook Page on March 23, 2026, Monday. The KIU also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.

The research center is led by Alexander Meskhi, a professor of Kutaisi International University, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, who introduced the center’s mission and main goals. Special attention was paid to the future plans of the newly founded center, the scientific achievements of Kutaisi International University, and perspectives in STEM science.

The Giorgi Nikoladze Scientific and Research Center will be a space where scientists, young researchers, and students will unite around innovative ideas, participate in STEM research projects, and attend international forums.

The main objectives of the Center are: to organize scientific events with International Research Centers; to support the professional development of young scientists and increase their involvement in STEAM projects; to promote the scientific and research opportunities of Kutaisi International University; to strengthen KIU’s role in the international academic and scientific space.

One of the priorities of Kutaisi International University is the implementation of STEM science programs and supporting relevant scientific-research activities, which will further strengthen KIU to become a leading innovation, technology, and entrepreneurial hub in the region.

A number of important scientific works are related to the name of the famous Georgian mathematician and inventor Giorgi Nikoladze. In 1928, he defended his doctoral thesis at the Sorbonne, titled “About continuous systems of geometric figures”. Giorgi Nikoladze was giving lectures on “Analytical Geometry” and “Differential Geometry” at Tbilisi State University. A prize named after him for the best scientific work in the field of technology was established in Georgia.
