The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development of Georgia, Levan Zavutashvili, and Deputy Zaza Kvitsiani held a meeting with state trustees from different regions and mayors of municipalities. Bolnisi Municipality Mayor, Zamur Chitanava, held the meeting.
Along with the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development of Georgia, the Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, and the General Director of “Georgian Melioration” LLC, Gigla Tamazashvili, were also present.

During the meeting, the irrigation water tariff set by the Georgian National Commission for Energy and Water Supply (SEMEC) and the new scheme of subsidies developed by the state were discussed, aimed at supporting farmers and strengthening the agro sector.
The parties discussed in detail the issues of effective implementation of these mechanisms and increasing access to farmers.
During the meeting, participants discussed important issues as the irrigation season approaches, including infrastructure readiness, water management, and ensuring an uninterrupted water supply in the regions. It also pointed out the challenges that still exist in the melioration system that require a timely response.
The importance of coordinated work between central and local governments has been emphasized, which plays a crucial role in developing the agro-sector, safeguarding farmers’ interests, and the economic growth of the regions. It was noted that work meetings of such a format will contribute to the efficient planning and implementation of specific projects.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Giorgi Tskrialashvili and Lasha Dolidze, as well as the head of the National Forest Agency Besik Amiranashvili, Head of the Environmental Supervision Department Levan Jgharkava, and Director of the Rural Development Agency Zurab Gozalishvili.
