Within the framework of the working meeting between Tinatin Rukhadze and the Greek Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, the Minister of Culture of Georgia met with the mayor of Athens, Harris Ducas.

The Georgian Minister of Culture shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on April 9, 2026, Thursday. A brief note regarding the extra meetings held with it was also shared by the Culture Minister.

It should be noted that Greece has a special attitude towards Georgian culture, and she was glad that Dukas had expressed his readiness to implement joint projects and paid special attention to the perspective of friendship between Tbilisi and Athens.

During the visit, Tinatin Rukhadze had fruitful meetings with the heads of Stavros Niarchos and Onassis foundations. She discussed opportunities for collaboration in educational and professional programs for cultural representatives.

According to her, Georgia and Greece have been united and brought closer by ancient history and Christian culture for millennia. This is a solid foundation for developing and deepening the relationship between their countries.

She also noted that proof of this was the concert of the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra and the Georgian State Band Chapel, which was held at the Greek National Opera, located in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Culture Center.

The Georgian Culture Minister also expressed her special thanks to Vakhtang Kakhidze for this wonderful evening, where his wonderful work “Requiem” was performed. “I would like to note that the evening was dedicated to the memory of the Catholic-Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II. I thank our dear musicians for representing Georgian culture at the highest level,” she added.

Tinatin Rukhadze also mentioned that she was grateful to the Georgian Embassy in Greece for the work done to organize the visit. Georgia and Greece continue their historical friendship with new plans and projects. It’s good that culture plays a very important role in this relationship.
