In connection with the Holy Family Day, a procession was held from Rustaveli Avenue to the Trinity Cathedral on May 17, because of which the traffic on some streets of the capital was temporarily restricted.
The procession started at 11:00 from the area of the Kashveti Temple. From 08:00 to 14:00, the movement of vehicles will be restricted on Gia Chanturia Street, from Rustaveli Avenue intersection to Freedom Square, as well as Baratashvili Bridge and from Baratashvili Hill to Avlabri Square.
From Rustaveli Avenue to the rest of Mtatsminda streets were possible to reach through Tarknishvili, Chovelidze, Zandukeli streets, and then using Barnovi, Gogebashvili, Makashvili, and Kakabadzei streets. It will be possible to reach Melikishvili Avenue and the metro station Rustaveli through Griboedov, Makashvili, Barnov, Zandukeli, and Shanidze streets.
From the area near the metro station “Rustaveli,” cars going to Freedom Square will be able to move on Rustaveli Avenue to the intersection of Chanturia Street, from where, by turning left, they will be connected to the right bank of Mtkvri through Chanturia and Soliko Virsaladze streets.
During the period of traffic restriction on Freedom Square, vehicles could move to Pandus near Bartashvili Bridge and from Rustaveli Avenue to Chanturia Street. Movement will be restricted from Kote Abkhaz and Shalva Dadiani streets to Freedom Square.
The procession continued from Freedom Square in the direction of the Trinity Cathedral, during which the traffic will be restricted to the Baratashvili Bridge and from Baratashvili Hill to Avlabri Square.
During the period of traffic restriction on Baratashvili Street, cars were able to move towards Freedom Square using the right bank of Mtkvri and Kote Abkhaz Street, while vehicles driving towards Avlabri will be able to pass through a dry bridge using the left bank of Kosta Khetagurov and Mtkvri.
During the closure of the motorway at Avlabri Square, cars moving from Ketevan Queen Avenue was connected to the left bank of Mtkvari using Bochormi and Yalbuzi streets, and vehicles going to Ketevan Dedopli Avenue after turning on Baratashvili Street, using Baratashvili Bridge, will move to the left shore of Mtkvri, then to Yalbuz and Bochormi streets, and Ketevan Queen Avenue towards Avlabri Square.
Traffic was restored step by step after the completion of the march.
