The Department of Chemical Expertise of the National Bureau of Forensic Investigation of Substances, Materials, Crafts, and Plants took part in the annual interlaboratory testing organized by the American company Collaborative Testing Services (CTS).
The National Forensic Bureau of Georgia shared the glimpses of the testing on its official Facebook Page on May 27, 2026, Wednesday. The Bureau also shared a small note about the testing along with its glimpses.
Within the framework of testing, bureau experts:
* The fiber composition of different types of fabric was determined.
* Foreign fiber micro-particles on objects were identified;
* The origin of fiber micro-particles was identified.
* They evaluated and interpreted the results received.
83 world’s leading laboratories participated in international testing. The results obtained were statistically processed by CTS specialists, based on which the final report was prepared.
Based on the results of interlaboratory testing, the bureau’s experts were awarded the highest ratings in both conducting the research, evaluating, and interpreting the results. The mentioned result once again confirmed the high professional competence of experts, accuracy, truthfulness, and reliability of conducted studies. The Bureau’s laboratory has again secured a worthy place among the leading laboratories of America and Europe.
The National Forensic Bureau, named after SP Levan Samkharauli, Department of Chemical Expertise of Substances, Materials, Crafts and Plant Expertise Authority, is the only laboratory in the field of textile analysis in Georgia, accredited according to the standard “SS ISO/EK 17025:2017/2018”. Laboratory activities are completely based on international standards and modern research methodologies.
