Adjara Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, a(a)ip Agroservice Center actively implements irrigation and drying channels rehabilitation works within the framework of the irrigation systems management program.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Ajara shared the details of the program on its official Facebook page on June 23, 2026, Tuesday.
The Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Adjara, Denis Salukvadze, got acquainted with the rehabilitation works on the irrigation canal in the villages of Dandalo and Meris of Kedi municipality and inspected the current situation.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Archil Beridze, Mayor of Kedi Municipality Mamuka Turmanidze, Deputy of the High Council Friedon Putkaradze, and the heads of Agroservice Center.
“Development of slimming infrastructure is one of the most important areas for strengthening agriculture in our region. Such projects contribute to improving the socio-economic conditions of the population, the effective use of agricultural lands, and rural development. We will continue to support such important infrastructural projects in the future actively,” The minister said during the meeting.
As part of the program, polyethylene and steel pipes were installed on damaged sections of irrigation channels. Also, the canal is completely cleared. The total length of the mentioned canal is 4 kilometers, which will serve up to 60 families, and the irrigation area is 50 hectares.
In 2026, 10 irrigation channels will be arranged in the Keda municipality, whose total length is 23.440 km. Also, within the framework of the maintenance-preservation program, restoration works will be carried out on 8 irrigation channels, with a total length of 19,400 kilometers.
Within the framework of “Reconstruction of irrigation systems”, in 2026, the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 5 irrigation channels in the municipalities of Kedi, Shuakhevi, and Khulo will be carried out. In addition, within the program, within the framework of maintenance and preservation measures, additional rehabilitation of 25 channels will be carried out.
