The State Oil and Gas Agency continues to work in active mode on the drinking water pollution incident in the village of Krtsanisi. The agency is closely coordinating with relevant authorities and monitoring the situation to ensure the issue is resolved promptly and public safety is maintained.
The State Oil and Gas Agency of Georgia shared glimpses of the works and the meeting in which the works were discussed on its official Facebook Page on June 30, 2026, Tuesday. The Agency also shared a small note about the works along with its glimpses.
In the village of Krtsanis of Gargabani municipality, a special team created by the State Agency for Oil and Gas in connection with the discovery of oil spills in drinking water, together with all responsible authorities involved in the process, is working in a coordinated mode to determine the causes and all appropriate circumstances for oil spills in the drinking water network.
It should be noted that the Block Energy company, which has a license to obtain oil in this area, started maintenance as soon as the incident occurred. In order to protect the safety of the population, the water supply was immediately stopped, and the company continuously provided drinking and agricultural water to the population of the village Krtsanisi.
With the latest results, the condition is considerably improved; the water supply network is intensively being treated with special solutions and high pressure until the laboratory confirms water safety.
The State Oil and Gas Agency continues to monitor the process constantly and works with all responsible authorities to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Representatives of the agency took part in a working meeting held at the Ministry of Regional Development of Georgia, which was attended by representatives of local self-government, the oil-producing company “Block Energy” and the “JVP” company.
