Batumi hosts Integrated Plant Protection Conference

A conference on integrated plant protection issues was held in Batumi, in which representatives of the LEPL Agricultural Scientific Research Center and the Adam Beridze Soil, Food and Integrated Plant Protection Diagnostic Center “Anaseuli” participated. It was organized by the National Food Agency of Georgia.

A conference on integrated plant protection issues was held in Batumi, in which representatives of the LEPL Agricultural Scientific Research Center and the Adam Beridze Soil, Food and Integrated Plant Protection Diagnostic Center “Anaseuli” participated. It was organized by the National Food Agency of Georgia.

The Scientific Research Center for Agriculture (SRCA) of Georgia shared glimpses of the conference on its official Facebook Page on July 29, 2026, Wednesday. The SRCA also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.

According to the small note posted along with the glimpses of the event, it should be noted that the representatives of the Scientific and Research Center presented reports at the conference on Integrated Plant Protection.

Within the framework of the conference, modern approaches to integrated plant protection, challenges caused by climate change, effective measures for pest and disease management, and modern methods of biological protection were discussed.

Zurab Khideshel, head of the Department of Integrated Plant Protection Management of the Scientific and Research Center, introduced to the public the main harmful diseases of nuts, the problem of sudden nut sound, modern approaches to their management, and practical recommendations for farmers.

Nika Guntadze, Head of the Integrated Plant Protection Laboratory of the Center “Anaseuli”, reviewed in his report the prospects for laboratory propagation of the natural enemy of the Asian pheasant – the Japanese knotweed (Trissolcus japonicus) and its use in biological control measures.

The conference was attended by Irma Apkhazava, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, specialists working in the field of plant protection, scientists, farmers and representatives of the agricultural sector.
