The Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, visited Daba Gudauri Adventure Tourism School on August 7, 2026, Friday. The Minister inspected the school’s infrastructure, got acquainted with the activities of the institution, and held a working meeting with the administration staff.
The meeting discussed the priorities of vocational education, the issues of preparing qualified staff for the adventure tourism sector, and the prospects for vocational education development adapted to the modern demands of the labour market.
Representatives of the school introduced the Minister to the activities of the institution, current needs and future development plans.
It was noted that active work is underway with the support of the Ministry to complete the development of the relevant infrastructure in Svaneti by the end of the current year, which will allow the mentioned college to increase student enrollment and make vocational education even more accessible to those who wish. In addition, it is planned to launch an integrated training program for schoolchildren, which will contribute to the growth of interest in the profession among young people and the popularization of vocational education.
Gudauri Adventure Tourism School serves to increase the availability of vocational education in tourist regions of Georgia and prepare qualified staff for the field of adventure tourism. The school implements the ‘Mountaine Tracker’ vocational education programme and 14 vocational training programmes developed in accordance with international standards and include the training of specialists for mountaineering-adventure tourism and high-risk professions.
The learning process is led by professional education teachers with many years of experience in a modern educational environment.
The school cooperates with international and local partners, including the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations (IFMGA), which ensures the compliance of professional programmes with international standards. Graduates of the professional mountain guide programme receive an international certificate recognised by IFMGA.
It should be noted that this year Georgia will host one of the most important international events in the field of adventure tourism. For the first time in Georgia, the General Assembly of International Mining Associations will be held, which is held every year in different countries. Representatives of 27 leading countries’ mining associations will participate in the assembly.
