The chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, together with the Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the Region, Denis Salukvadze, attended the event organized by the Adjara Forest Agency.
The Chairman of the Government got acquainted with the activities of the agency and its updated capabilities, and also inspected the specialized equipment on the balance of the agency.
At the meeting with the employees of the agency, the work carried out by the forest agency was summarized, and future initiatives were discussed. The Prime Minister focused on effective management of forest resources, constant communication with the population, and strengthening preventive measures.
“The forestry sector is one of the main priorities both nationwide and for our region in particular. Preservation, maintenance and development of green cover, constant communication with the population and prevention are the main tasks that the employees of the Forestry Agency perform with dignity. Today we examined specialized equipment that will strengthen control and promote the effective work of the Agency. Together with the population, we must take care of the preservation and development of our natural resources,” noted Zurab Pataradze.
The participants of the event were addressed by the Chairmen of the Adjara Government and the Supreme Council of Adjara, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, and the Head of the Forestry Agency, who also presented a presentation about the activities of the agency. During the event, the agency’s senior employees were thanked for their contribution to the development of the forest sector.
Adjara Forest Agency implements important projects in the field of forest protection, restoration and sustainable management. Works of forest inventory, sanitary condition improvement, restoration and renewal were carried out. At the same time, the rehabilitation of forestry-agricultural roads, strengthening of the agency’s material-technical base and setting up new plantations are ongoing. Also, preparation works are underway for tourist infrastructure, which will contribute to the development of ecotourism.
The meeting was attended by Tsotne Ananidze, Member of Parliament of Georgia, Anzor Bolkvadze, Mayor of Khelvachauri, Zaza Diasamidze, representatives of the Adjara Government, High Council and local self-government, as well as the National Forest Agency of Georgia.
