The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songhulashvili, introduced Paata Kiladze, the newly appointed Head of the Environmental Supervision Department, to the department’s employees.
The Minister congratulated Paata Kiladze on his appointment to the new position and wished him success in his future endeavors. Davit Songhulashvili underscored the importance of state environmental control and highlighted the measures and reforms planned in this area.
“Mr. Paata has extensive experience working in the public sector. Over the years, he has successfully carried out his responsibilities in various public institutions. I am confident that his joining our team will make it even stronger,” David Songhulashvili stated.
The Minister expressed his special appreciation to Levan Jgharkava, former Head of the Environmental Supervision Department, for his dedicated service and contribution. He noted that the change in the Department’s leadership is part of a rotation process and that Levan Jgharkava will continue to serve within the Ministry’s system. This, in turn, will further strengthen the system’s institutional capacity.
Paata Kiladze is an economist and lawyer by profession. He has many years of experience working in the public sector. Throughout his career, he has held senior positions at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and within the tax administration. Since 2021, he has served as the First Deputy Head of the Revenue Service, a Legal Entity under Public Law.
Paata Kiladze thanked the Minister for the confidence placed in him. He noted that the work of the Department of Environmental Supervision is of particular importance to the country and expressed his readiness to use his experience and capabilities to contribute to the effective fulfillment of the tasks set before the Department.
The Department of Environmental Supervision, a state sub-agency under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, ensures state control over environmental protection and the use of natural resources throughout the territory of Georgia, including its territorial waters, continental shelf, and exclusive economic zone.
