The Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia, Mikheil Sarjveladze, met with members of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on August 18, 2026, Tuesday. The Georgian Health Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The main goal of the visit was to share the practice and experience related to IDP issues in Georgia, which the country has accumulated to support internally displaced persons.
At the meeting, the Minister introduced the members of the delegation to programs focused on the needs of IDPs. The discussion touched on the programs implemented in the direction of providing housing, socio-economic integration, and livelihood development.
According to Mikheil Sarjveladze, caring for IDP issues is one of the priority directions of the state. The Minister noted that the Ministry is implementing several programs aimed at creating decent living conditions for IDPs – including the construction of large-scale residential complexes in five cities of the country, as well as the “House to the Village” program and other supporting projects.
According to the minister, the main priority is to return the refugees to their homes, to their territories in safe and dignified conditions. Along the way, it is important to support international partners and share experiences to promote effective refugee management and overcome existing challenges.
Deputy Minister Giorgi Tsagareishvili and Head of the Department of Social Protection, Refugees and Labor Policy Tatia Gvaramadze attended the meeting.
