The Chairman of the Health and Social Issues Committee of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Ilia Verdzadze, attended a working meeting on maternal and child health issues organized by the Ajara Public Health Center.
The Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on August 21, 2026, Friday. A small note about the meeting was also shared along with its glimpses.
According to the small note shared by the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, it should be noted that the meeting was attended by Nino Nizharadze, Minister of Health and Social Affairs of Ajara, Sofio Bakuridze, wife of the Chairman of the Government, and beneficiaries of the center.
The main aim of the working meeting was to summarize the results of measures and programs implemented in the field of maternal and child health, share experiences, and define visions for future cooperation and development.
The participants discussed the topic “From Prevention to Results – Maternal and Child Health Programs”. Rusudan Shavishvili, Director of the Ajara Public Health Center, spoke about the results, achievements, and experience of projects implemented in this area.
It was emphasized that protecting the health of mothers and children is one of the priorities of the Ajara government. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Ajara finances 14 targeted programs with more than 10 million GEL in this direction during the year. More than 13,000 beneficiaries use the services of the Public Health Center.
It is noteworthy that this year, within the framework of the program, the first women’s milk bank in Georgia was also opened, which will contribute to the survival and health protection of high-risk newborns.
