The Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Zurab Pataradze, together with the Mayor of Batumi, Giorgi Tsintsadze, reviewed the results of the active tourist season at the Batumi Botanical Garden and met with the new head of the administration and employees.

The meeting focused on the high dynamics of visitors. It was noted that the Batumi Botanical Garden remains one of the main centers of tourist attraction in the region, and a 10% increase in visitors was recorded compared to the same period last year. The potential of the Botanical Garden to host high-ranking international forums, scientific conferences and environmental symposiums was also highlighted, which will further increase the region’s awareness in the international arena.

The meeting also emphasized the need to update the infrastructure. According to Zurab Pataradze, digital technologies in line with modern standards – including QR codes and electronic services – will be introduced gradually. Also, a new tourist route is planned to be arranged in the phytogeographical section of the humid subtropics of Transcaucasia.

Zurab Pataradze wished the new head of the garden success and noted that with the unified vision of the administration and employees of the botanical garden, it will be possible to implement projects that will contribute to the strengthening of the tourist, scientific and educational functions of the garden.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the prospects for the development of the Alpine Botanical Garden. It was noted that the strengthening of the garden is directly related to the tourist development of the Goderdzi resort, Green Lake, Black Lake and Beshumi, which will contribute to the economic strengthening of mountainous Adjara and the extension of the tourist season.

The Chairman of the Government, together with the Mayor of Batumi, symbolically planted an incense pine in the Giorgi Gabrichidze Seaside Park of the North American section of the garden.
