Georgia discusses labor safety in construction sector

The Minister of Labor, Health and Social Protection of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Mikheil Sarjveladze, together with the Head of the Labor Inspection Service, Beka Peradze, met with members of the Georgian Business Association.

The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on September 1, 2026, Tuesday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.

The parties discussed labor safety standards, legislative regulations, and their enforcement practice in the construction sector.

Mikheil Sarjveladze focused on the importance of regulations and their effective enforcement. According to the Minister, strict compliance with labor safety norms and ensuring the life and health of employees is a common responsibility and priority of the state and the private sector.

The parties discussed the current situation in terms of labor safety in the construction sector, inspection results, and enforcement practice. They also discussed ways to prevent accidents at workplaces and strengthen the safety culture on the part of employers.

The meeting emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue between the state and business in the process of effective implementation of safety standards and improvement of the working environment. The dynamics of monitoring carried out by the Labor Inspection Service and the identified violations were also discussed. The parties also discussed practical recommendations aimed at improving the working environment.

The meeting was also attended by Giorgi Tsagareishvili, Deputy Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Zaza Lominadze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Health and Social Issues, Levan Vepkhvadze, Executive Director of the Georgian Business Association, and representatives of the Labor Inspection Service.
