The final event of the public holiday “Khelvachauri Days” was held on the territory of Gonio Prison. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, and his wife.
Zurab Pataradze congratulated the people on the holiday and noted that it is important to develop the capacity of the municipality and create new perspectives for the local population.
Zurab Pataradze said, “Khelvachauri Days,” along with other important public holidays, represent the cultural diversity of our region. This is a chain of love and tradition.
According to him, it is a joy that not only one municipality, but the whole region shares this joy. With special respect, I congratulate the people of Khelvachauri on this day and wish them prosperity and success. Infrastructural projects in the municipality serve to improve the living conditions of the population and increase tourism opportunities,” he noted.
“It is symbolic that today we are in Gonio prison, in a place that revives our centuries-old history and gives this celebration a special feel,” said Zurab Pataradze.
Within the framework of the holiday, the award ceremony of “Honorable Khelvachaure people” was held. Zurab Pataradze presented awards to Murman Gorgoshadze and Nodar Kopinadze for their contribution to educational and social work.
Archil Beridze, delegate of Batumi and Khelvachauri in the Parliament; delegate of Khelvachauri Mindia Diasamidze in the High Council of Adjara; mayor of Khelvachauri Zaza Diasamidze; and chairman of the city council Archil Mkheidze congratulated the population on the holiday. “Khelvachauri Days” unites the municipality’s public holidays – “Kolkhoba” and “Machakhloba” and aims to promote local cultural traditions.
The celebration ended with a concert featuring local folk and choreographic ensembles and invited artists. The event was attended by members of the Adjara government, members of the Supreme Council, local government leaders, and guests.
